Passenger numbers at Budapest's Ferihegy International Airport rose 1.2% to 8.19m in 2010, airport operator Budapest Airport told MTI.
Passenger numbers rose after falling 4.2% in 2009.
Passenger numbers during peak months in the summer of 2010 matched the 2.4 million in July-September of 2007. Passenger numbers rose each month in a year-and-year comparison with the exception of April, when ash from a volcano in Iceland disrupted air travel all over Europe.
Dutch carrier KLM returned to Ferihegy in 2010. Hungarian low-fare airline Wizz Air added five new flights and Germanwings added one new destination during the year.
Passenger numbers of Wizz Air rose almost 26% in 2010. Passenger numbers of Lufthansa and Germanwings both climbed over 10%. (MTI – Econews)
