Ferihegy Airport fails ICAO security review

Budapest's Ferihegy International Airport has failed a security review by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and will have to start subjecting arrivals from the EU's Schengen zone to checks as a result, daily Magyar Hírlap reported on Tuesday without citing any sources.

Ferihegy operator Budapest Airport was informed of the decision - which the ICAO took after establishing Budapest Airport failed to correct security lapses - by the National Development Ministry at the weekend, the paper said.

In its latest internal newsletter, Budapest Airport said it had corrected technical shortfalls together with its workers, but an assessment by Hungarian authorities found further steps were necessary. (MTI-ECONEWS)
