Eybl decides on further layoffs

Troubled car seat manufacturer Eybl Hungária Kft was forced to lay off an additional 160 workers, seeing a drop in received orders, said Péter Márta on behalf of the liquidator, Vectigalis Zrt.

The firm that operated four bases in Hungary and employed 1,500 people reached its current ailing condition and went into liquidation upon its Austrian and German parent, Eybl International AG going bankrupt, as well as the group’s Romanian member accumulating €30 million in debts. The liquidator was hoping to resume production to save the company 1,000 jobs, but seeing the current market conditions, headcount targets will have to be revised, Márta said. (Napi Gazdaság)
