The Hungarian market is extremely important from the business perspective as well as for the expansion of its R&D and Global Service Center. The current position of Ericsson Magyarország gives all it takes to keep a leading role in the telecom market by further developing broadband networks, offering managed services and multimedia solutions, said Chris Houghton, the new CEO of the company at a press conference on Thursday.
Houghton arrived in Hungary in August to lead Ericsson Magyarország, leaving his post as deputy CEO of Ericsson Japan and bringing here all the experience and knowledge he gained working in the most advanced telecom market of the world.
He considers the most important job is to strengthen the company’s current position in the Hungarian telco market as one of the major players.
In November 2009 Ericsson Magyarország won Best Workplace award among large enterprises in a survey of Hewitt and business daily Világgazdaság. Before that, business weekly Figyelő’s TOP 200 selected Ericsson as The Most Innovative Company of the Year.
Due to an increase in the demand for R&D and international engineering services in 2009, the company expanded its workforce by another 200 to 1,300 employees. (BBJ Online)
