Émász plans heavy investments in Eastern Hungary

Electricity distributor for northern Hungary Émász is making investments in the region close to HUF 10bn this year, Hans-Gunter Hogg, a member of the board of majority owner RWE-EnBW, said at a press conference in Miskolc (NE Hungary) on Wednesday.

Émász will spend HUF 9.95bn on network developments this year, including HUF 2.2bn on its main distributor network, Mr Hogg said. The investments will improve the operating security of the network and reduce network losses, he added.

Émász had consolidated after-tax profit of HUF 2.53bn in Q1, down 45% from the same period a year earlier. Sales of electricity fell 6.3% to 530 GWh during the period.
