Eleven companies purchased the tender documentation for mobile telecommunications concessions called by Hungary's National Communications Authority (NHH) by Friday, the NHH told MTI.
NHH announced a tender for new mobile telecommunications frequencies on October 22. The concessions, for which Hungary's three existing mobile telecommunications companies may not bid, are for 15 years with the possibility of a seven-and-a-half year extension.
NHH is offering two mobile phone concessions: one in the same range used by the country's existing mobile telephone companies, and the other in the 450 MHz range, which is not currently used in Hungary. NHH will also offer five concessions for the 26 GHz frequency range, which the NHH hopes will boost broadband internet coverage.
NHH will announce the results for the two mobile concessions as early as December 22, 2008. The results for the five 26 GHz concessions will be made known no earlier than January 30, 2009. (MTI – Econews)
