Electro-Recycling plans Ft 1.2 bln electronics recycling plant

Electro-Recycling Group plans to build a Ft 1.2 billion recycling facility for waste electronic equipment in Bátonyterenye, northeast Hungary, supervisory board chairman Ferenc Pánczél said on Friday.

Construction of the facility, to be the first investment at the city's industrial park, will start in September and it will begin operating already early in 2007.
Electro-Recycling Group expects the facility to disassemble and recycle 5,000 tons of waste electronic equipment in its first year and double that amount afterward. The facility will employ 50-60 people at the start and 80-100 later on, Pánczél said. The company has signed a preliminary contract with Ökomat Kht, a company that collects waste electronic equipment, to supply the facility and to finance the processing of the waste. The contract should ensure the facility's continuous operation for the coming seven years, Pánczél said.
