The Hungarian unit of the German drugstore chain drogerie markt (dm) had turnover of HUF 63.7 billion in its business year ended September 30, up 5.5% from the previous year, in spite of the recession, managing director Wolfgang Strasser said in Budapest on Wednesday.
Revenue growth slowed in the 2008/2009 business year from 18.4% in 2007/2008.
At group level, dm's sales climbed 11.6%, exceeding EUR 5 billion for the first time.
Strasser declined to comment on dm Hungary's profits, but said they were enough to cover development costs.
dm Hungary will open its 251st shop in Hungary, in Gyor, on Thursday. Hungary's has the third-highest number of shops after Germany and Austria.
dm Hungary expects to complete a logistics base on the outskirts of Budapest by September 2010, Strasser said. (MTI-ECONEWS)
