Hungary's biggest digital television companies had 1.48 million subscribers in March, up 15,000 from a month earlier, the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) said on Tuesday.
The figures cover Hungary's twelve biggest digital television service providers, which control 80-85% of the market.
The number of digital subscribers with cable or IPTV connections rose by 12,000 to 589,000 during the month. The number of satellite connections climbed 3,000 to 891,000.
Slightly more than 3 million Hungarian households are pay-television subscribers. About 800,000 households watch analogue, digital or satellite television content for which broadcasters do not charge. Subscriptions at the twelve service providers totaled 2.696 million at the end of March.
Taking into account all services, UPC was market leader at the end of February with a market share of 28.8%, slipping 0.1% from a month earlier, while Magyar Telekom's market share was unchanged at 24.8% and the share of DIGI rose to 26.8% from 26.6%.
