German prosecutors are investigating Deutsche Telekom on suspicion of bribery at its Hungarian unit Magyar Telekom, German daily Suddeutsche Zeitung reported on Friday.
A spokesman for Deutsche Telekom confirmed the report.
The investigation of eight Deutsche Telekom managers concerns questionable contracts at Magyar Telekom's units in Macedonia and Montenegro uncovered in 2005.
In a final report on an internal investigation of the contracts published in December 2009 Magyar Telekom's audit committee said contracts worth a combined €31 million that “served improper purposes” had been signed at the units. (MTI-Econews)
