Belgian supermarket group Delhaize said that it had entered into an agreement to acquire four supermarkets in Romania through its Mega Image subsidiary.
Delhaize did not say how much it would be paying for the transaction, but said it hoped to close the deal in the third quarter this year, subject to approval from Romanian antitrust authorities. It said estimated revenues for the four stores amounted to more than €12 million ($15.65 million) for 2008. Delhaize gained full control of Mega Image in 2004. It has about 40 stores and employs some 2000 people in Romania. (Reuters)
