German carmaker Daimler and Italian peer Iveco dismissed reports by business daily Napi Gazdaság on Thursday that they plan new investments in Hungary.
Napi Gazdaság said Daimler is to double the size of an €800 million plant in Kecskemet (C Hungary) to be completed in June, citing unnamed market sources. The paper also said Iveco planned to build a plant in Kecskemet.
A Daimler spokeswoman told Reuters she could not confirm the report, but noted that the topping out ceremony at the plant in the city had only taken place in October.
Iveco said in a late Wednesday message to Napi Gazdaság that it had no plans for an investment in Hungary.
