Czech new car sales rise 13% in first two months, led by Skoda

Czech new car sales rose 13% in the first two months of the year, led by models of domestic producer Skoda Auto AS.

Czechs bought 18,339 new cars in the January-February period, the Association of Car Importers said in a statement on its Web site. Skoda, a unit of Volkswagen AG, sold 7,347 cars, an increase of 4% from a year ago, the group said. The sales gave Skoda a market share of 40.1%. Renault SA was second with 1,172 cars sold and 6.4% of the market. Volkswagen AG was third with 1,025 cars and a 5.6% share. (Bloomberg)
