Consumer spending on telecommunications falls

Hungarian households' annual spending, in real terms, on telecommunications equipment and services fell for the first time in six years in 2007, a survey by GKIeNET, T-Home and T-Mobile reveals.

The decline came as the price of telecommunications equipment and services fell, even as headline inflation reached 8%.

The weight of spending on telecommunications within the consumer basket dropped to 6.8% in 2007 from 7.1% in 2006, the survey's authors noted. The weight rose each year earlier in the decade from 5% in 2000. (MTI – Econews)
