Competition Office investigates bus companies for suspected cartel activity

Hungary's Competition Office (GVH) on Tuesday said it carried out unannounced on-site inspections at bus companies COLOR TOURS, Kontakt-Busz and T and J Busz Projekt on suspicion of cartel activity.

GVH said it suspected the companies collaborated when bidding in tenders called by state-owned bus company Volánbusz in 2007-2009. Volánbusz wanted to contract out some of its bus routes.

GVH has six months to complete the investigation of the companies, but it may extend the deadline twice, by as long as six months both times. (MTI-Econews)
