Hungary's Competition Office (GVH) said it approved the acquisition of 50% stakes in two Hungarian freight companies, MASPED-Railog Railway Delivery and MASPED-Schenker Air and Sea Delivery, by DB Hungária, a unit of German railway company Deutsche Bahn.
The transaction gives Deutsche Bahn indirect control over 100% of the companies as the other 50% stakes are owned by Austria's Schenker, another member of the Deutsche Bahn group.
GVH said Deutsche Bahn had many competitors on the Hungarian market for international deliveries by rail, air and sea. On the air and sea delivery market, which are the narrowest of these markets, its share is under 20%. (MTI - Econews)
