Danish medical supplies company Coloplast plans to build a €60 million (Ft 15.3 billion) plant in Nyírbátor in northeast Hungary, managing director of Coloplast Hungary Kft László Horváth announced on Tuesday.
The plant, Coloplast's second in Hungary, will start production with 600 workers in September 2007, but the number of employees will double by the end of 2009 after the second phase of the investment is completed.
Nyírbátor mayor Mrs János Balla said Coloplast would be the second company to set up in the city's industrial park. The company is building on 10.3 hectares in the park.
At the end of October, Coloplast signed a contract for state subsidies it will put toward the €60 million plant in Nyírbátor as well as a €40 million capacity expansion at its existing plant in Tatabánya, northwest Hungary. The plant, set up in 2001, employs 800 people.
