An expected HUF 2 billion (€7.49 million) worth of chocolate Santa Clauses will be sold in Hungary during the upcoming holiday season, market-research company Nielsen reported on Friday.
Nielsen noted that HUF 2.5 billion in seasonal chocolate products and holiday gift-packages were sold in Hungary during the pre-Christmas season in 2008, up 20% yr/yr.
The company said that 3,600 tons of parlor candy used as Christmas tree decorations were sold in Hungary last year, generating sales of HUF 4 billion.
Nielsen said that hollow chocolate Santa Clauses have remained more popular than their solid chocolate counterparts. (MTI-ECONEWS)
