CEEGEX Zrt, a unit of Hungarian Power Exchange operator HUPX Zrt, has submitted plans to the Hungarian Energy Office (MEH) to launch a natural gas exchange in Hungary, the business daily Világgazdaság reported on Wednesday.
CEEGEX has until end of July to present the plan and apply for a license.
Világgazdaság said the exchange would have a start-up cost HUF 100 million, compared to the Hungarian Power Exchange's start-up cost of HUF 200 million.
HUPX is required to launch a natural gas exchange by January 1, 2013.
