BUX opens up 0.22%

The Budapest Stock Exchange's (BSE) blue-chip BUX index opened Thursday trade up 0.22% at 22,471.72.

BSE blue chips stood as follows at Thursday's opening bell: OTP Bank was up 0.50% at HUF 5,420; oil and gas company MOL was up 0.15% at HUF 23,435; drug company Richter and Magyar Telekom were unchanged at HUF 37,150 and HUF 585, respectively.

Tamás Gerőcs of Equilor Investments said that the resignation of Portuguese Prime Minster Jose Socrates after Parliament rejected his government's austerity budget has dampened market sentiment in Europe on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the BUX lost 0.49% and fell to 22,422.25 on a total turnover of HUF 9.29 billion.
