The Budapest Stock Exchange's main BUX index opened down 0.12% at 23,087.27 on Wednesday as Asian and US markets closed down.
OTP Bank fell 0.36% to HUF 5,500, oil and gas company MOL opened unchanged at HUF 20,495, drug maker Richter inched down 0.07% to HUF 45,970 and Magyar Telekom opened unchanged at HUF 680.
The BUX closed down 0.17% at 23,114.45 on Tuesday, on turnover of HUF 20.6 billion.
Analyst Roland Kovács of Equilor Investment told MTI that global markets will be influenced by negative expectations on Wednesday. Overseas macrodata proved weaker than expected and corporate earnings reports also show a mixed picture, he added. Asian markets closed down 1-2%.
Sándor Német of Buda-Cash Brokerage, however, said the recent positive mood will persist and will overcome the negative news on the BSE as well. This, he said, would be due to the US monetary easing. (MTI – Econews)
