The Budapest Stock Exchange's main BUX index finished up 0.91% at 22,275.49 on Monday, extending gains on an end-of-session rally.
The BUX rose with its peers in the region on Monday even as bourses in Western Europe hovered around the break-even mark.
OTP Bank gained 1.57% to HUF 5,035 on turnover of HUF 5.8 billion, or about 62% of a sparse HUF 8.5 billion session total. Oil and gas company MOL rose 1.00% to HUF 20,300 on turnover of HUF 1.1 billion.
Magyar Telekom advanced 0.75% to HUF 670 on turnover of HUF 209 million, and drug maker Richter climbed 0.21% to HUF 44,995 on turnover of HUF 1.1 billion.
The bourse's mid-cap BUMIX index gained 0.87% to 2,025.74.
Elsewhere in the region, Warsaw's WIG 20 was up 1.26% and the Prague PX rose 0.72%.
Western Europe's biggest indices were close to break-even late Monday. London's FTSE 100 was up 0.01% at 5,275.90, Frankfurt's DAX was down 0.01% at 6,109.50 and the CAC 40 in Paris slipped 0.28% to 3,600.83. (MTI – Econews)
