Hungary's first 18-hole international-standard golf course, located in Bukfurdo (W Hungary), has been offered for sale for HUF 1 billion after its owner, Hungaria Golf Ingatlanforgalmazo-Fejleszto es Uzemelteto Kft, underwent liquidation at the end of last summer, the business daily Napi Gazdasag said on Monday.
The Bukfurdo Birdland Golf + Country Club was set up in 1991.
The company's liquidation proceedings were started in August last year after an unsuccessful bankruptcy procedure; the golf course has now been offered for sale by the liquidator Matraholding Zrt.
The paper notes that the 80-hectare golf course is located next to the five-star, 207-room Birdland Golf + Spa Resort hotel, renamed Greenfield Hotel Golf + Spa in May. CIB Bank acquired the hotel in October 2010 and changed operators twice over a short period. There is also a villa park consisting of 166 apartments in the area.
