Fair organizer Hungexpo opened its 114th Budapest International Fair (BNV) at its own permanent exhibition site, the Budapest Fair Center, on September 8.
The consumer product fair is being held between 8 and 12 September with 420 exhibitors from 13 countries on an almost 17,000 square meter exhibition area, said Hungexpo.
The main focus of the event is home-making with exhibitors including Hungary's top furniture manufacturers and interior designers, but there are also various interrelated exhibitions. In 2009, the number of BNV visitors rose by 10,000 to 65,000. The fair has become an increasingly attractive family event with families accounting for more than half of the visitors.
Hungexpo hopes to become profitable again in 2011 after a 16% decline in revenues in 2009 is projected to slow to under 10% this year, CEO Gabor Ganczer told MTI. The company had ove HUF 4 billion revenues last year.
Hungexpo received EUR 20 million from its new owner, the French GL Events group, for the development of its fair center in 2006. The company’s privatization was completed in July, 2005. The winner of the privatization bid was a consortium headed by the GL Events group.
