Budapest district heater to cut costs

Főtáv, Budapest's local council-owned district heating company, expects to make HUF 2.1 billion in savings this year as the result of an efficiency improvement program started late in 2007, CEO Lajos Kovács said at a press conference.

Főtáv wants to introduce an equal payment plan during the next heating season, after the measure is approved by the local council, Kovács said. Főtáv would finance the optional payment plan at the start, generating additional costs of about HUF 180 million for every 100,000 homes. (MTI – Econews)
