Brussels decision clears way for €1 bln Audi investment in Hungary

The European Union has approved the reclassification of a parcel of protected land on which German car maker Audi wants to expand its base in Hungary, eliminating the obstacle for the almost €1 billion investment, National Economy Minister György Matolcsy said on Thursday.

Brussels said the reclassification from a nature preserve was in the best interest of the public, Matolcsy said.

The investment will boost capacity at the plant to 500 cars a day from the second half of 2013, creating 1,800 jobs. (MTI-Econews)
