Brixxon launches sale of electric car

Electric Module Car, Bontino, manufactured by Brixxon Elektromos Autó Kft – the first environment-friendly car developed by Hungarians – is now on sale.

The announcement was made by Sándor László Horváth, managing director of Brixxon. The electric pick up car’s uniquely designed components are produced by Hungarian companies like Pécs-based Carbon Composite Kft, and Sopron-based Hirschler Glas Kft, except for the undercarriage and the aluminum alloys imported from Asia. Bontino is the first model, but other types of electric cars are also being developed by the company. For 2008, Brixxon is to assemble 3,000 cars. The company has registered the first purchase orders mainly from Austrian private and tourism companies. Hortváth expects 150,000 electric cars to be marketed in the following 4 years. Orders are anticipated to come from the tourism industry, but food industry and food delivery companies are also potential customers. Brixxon will also export 500 Bontinos to Spanish company Dilixi Life S.L. in Barcelona, which is expected to sign a delivery contract with Brixxon for 4 years. Due to unfavorable manufacturing conditions and uncertain economic prospects, the company chose to set up its production base in Austria, near Weinz, which will also function as the center of the company. Brixxon has also started the development of a photovoltaic, solar system-based battery station. Such stations are planned to be set up in Nyíregyháza, and further Austrian locations. Solar collectors of the stations will be produced by Korax Gépgyártó Kft. Brixxon’s capital stock has recently been raised by Ft 1.101 billion. Brixxon is also negotiating with Hungarian investors, who will provide a capital injection of €4 million, acquiring 50% business share in the company, minus 1 vote. (Napi Gazdaság)
