Telecom and IT giant British Telecom (BT) will open a regional center in Debrecen, in Hungary.
British Telecom's service center will create 200 jobs in Debrecen and 400–500 jobs altogether in Hungary, said Economy Minister János Kóka. The Economy Ministry is currently negotiating with four other large investors, which could create a further 1000 jobs in the Debrecen area, the minister added. While the early 1990s saw car industry and the early 2000s the electronic industry's expansion in Hungary, this decade is ruled by telecom and IT services, and more recently, the renewable energy sector, Kóka concluded.
