Brill Pálinkaház sees taste for fine Hungarian spirits returning after crisis

Brill Pálinkaház, a distiller of pálinka, Hungary's eau de vie, sees revenue rising slightly to about HUF 55 million in 2010, after falling 10% in 2009 because of the crisis, managing director Edit Krizl told MTI.

Brill expects turnover to climb to HUF 60 million in 2011, Krizl said.

Pálinka generates about 80% of Brill's revenue. The rest comes from syrups.

Krizl spoke to MTI at a tasting at the Agricultural Museum in Budapest on the name day of the patron saint of pálinka distillers: St Nicholas. Distillers at the event toasted with Brill's 2009 Irsai Olivér grape pálinka which won the top prize at the 18th Hungarian National Pálinka and International Sprits Competition in the summer.
