Bosch opens €3 mln development center in Miskolc

Germany's Bosch group opened a new €3 million power tool development center in Miskolc, northeast Hungary on Thursday.

The 2,500 square meter center is located at the site of an existing power tool factory of the German group and will employ 100 developers. The center has been designed and organised in a way to shorten development times, Robert Bosch Power Tools managing director Gunther Schultze said at the opening.
The new development center includes an EMC test laboratory able to measure electromagnetic emissions and vibrations, and a noise measurement room. Bosch has had a development department in Miskolc since 2002, when power tool production started. The development department has already produced several innovations, such as the world's first lithium-ion technology multi-functional power polisher, Schultze said.
Bosch's power tool turnover increased 6% worldwide in 2005 to €2.7 billion. The group had a turnover €41.5 billion, including revenue of €736 million in Hungary in 2005.
