The Budapest public transport company BKV took delivery of the first two of 170 Metropolis-type underground carriages from French engineering giant Alstom, Alstom told MTI.
Another three carriages will arrive by Friday and test runs of the train will start in weeks.
Alstom signed the contract to deliver the carriages in May 2006 after winning a tender with a bid of €247 million.
Twenty-two Metropolis trains, consisting of five carriages apiece, will operate on the capital's number two underground line. The rest of the trains will be put on the fourth underground line, which is currently under construction. (MTI – Econews)
