The Budapest Public Transportation Company (BKV) on Wednesday issued an open public tender for the design, installation and operation of a HUF 5bn (EUR 18.7m) integrated GPS-based traffic-control and passenger-information system, the business daily Napi Gazdaság reported on Thursday.
The European Union will provide support for 80% of the cost of the project, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2012.
Bidders will be required to have completed one such urban public-transportation project and to have operated the system for a period of at least one year.
Deadline for submission of bids will be November 20, while BKV plans to announce the winner of the tender in the middle of December and to sign the contract for the project on December 23.(MTI-ECONEWS)
