AWAS purchases 75 Airbus A320 aircraft

Irish aircraft leasing company AWAS has signed a firm contract with European manufacturer Airbus to purchase 75 A320-family aircraft, Airbus announced on Wednesday.

Airbus provided no amount for the deal, but French radio said it was worth about €7 billion (about  $10.3 billion). AWAS head Franklin L Pray said, “Consistent with our long-term strategy, this deal further diversifies our fleet and allows AWAS to meet current and future demand from our customers for highly fuel efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft.” The deal, the first announced by Airbus in 2008, brings the number of Airbus aircraft in the Dublin-based company's fleet to 136.
