Authority warns Magyar Telekom over unfair business practice

Hungary's National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) has called on Magyar Telekom to desist from automatically activating mobile internet packages for new subscribers without their consent, NMHH spokeswoman Karola Kiricsi said on Friday.

Kiricsi said that the authority is investigating similar services offered by Hungary's other two mobile service providers, Vodafone and Telenor.

The NMHH spokeswoman noted that new subscribers often accumulated fees of tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of forints as the result of Magyar Telekom's automatic activation of its mobile internet package.
