Audi ups Hungarian output

The Hungarian factory of car manufacturer Audi significantly increased the produce of its Győr plant in 2007, the company announced.

The factory of Győr-based Audi Hungaria Motor Kft produced 56,982 cars (40,417 Audi TT Coupés, 16,349 Roadsters, and 216 A3 Cabriolets) and 1,913,053 engines in 2007, 140.75% more cars and 1.03% more engines than in 2006, reported managing director Thomas Faustmann. At a press conference at the end of 2007, Faustman estimated Audi Hungaria's 2007 sales revenue at over EUR 5 billion, adding that the company had spent over EUR 200 million on investment and created 700 new jobs, of which over 80 are engineer positions. The company, which makes about 7,000 engines a day, introduced 15 new varieties of engines in 2007. Also, in 2007 was the first time the factory produced 12 cylinder engines (54 pieces). The engines made in Győr are built into the cars of the German car makers Audi AG and Volkswagen AG

(brands Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda and Seat) all over the world. 2007 was the year of the market introduction of the new Audi TT Roadser and the world premiere of the Audi A3 Cabriolet and the beginning of its series production.
