Audi Hungaria Motor Kft produced 428,708 engines in Q1, 43% more than in Q1 2009, the company announced.
It manufactured 10,354 cars, up 36% year on year. Its output of cars almost halved last year while engine production declined by 27%.
The serial production of Audi’s new 4.2-liter, 8-cylinder FSI engine, the heart of the RS 5 model, was started early March. Some parts of the RS 5’s chassis are also manufactured in Győry), in Audi Hungaria’s tool plant. The production of the engine and the parts required an investment of HUF 4 billion.
Audi Hungaria also opened in March its new center for experimental engine production. This new line -- building and testing experimental engines -- was started with an investment of HUF 55 million. (MTI - Econews)
