The Hungarian unit of French supermarket chain Auchan will not open any new stores this year, rather it will work to re-establish profitability, Auchan Magyarország CEO Dominique Ducoux said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Technical preparations for five projects ─ four outside of Budapest and one in the capital ─ are underway, and the company is working to open up new stores in 2012, Ducoux said.
Auchan Magyarország had gross revenue of HUF 225 billion in 2010, about the same as in 2009, former CEO Jean-Paul Filliat said in March. Auchan Magyarország had a loss of just over HUF 7 billion in 2010, an improvement over the HUF 7.9 billion loss in 2009, he added.
Ducoux took over as CEO from Filliat in April.
