The Árkád 2 shopping mall opened its doors to the public on March 20, property developer ECE announced yesterday. With its extension of 20,000 square meters, Árkád shopping mall, and the adjacent Árkád 2 grew to become the largest retail complex of Hungary with an aggregated area of 68,000 square meters that includes some 200 shops, cafés and restaurants.
"We hope that Árkád 2, with its 21st century technology, will satisfy our customers both in its layout and its aesthetics, and we also hope that our increasing number of visitors will please our tenants as well," Anna Mátyás, leasing manager of ECE Projectmanagement Kft was quoted as saying.
Among the new tenants of the shopping center, it is worth highlighting that U.S. clothing company GAP will open its first Hungarian store with the opening of Árkád 2. Other brands, new to Árkád, but already present in Hungary, include Van Graaf, iStyle, Deichmann and Thomas Breitling.
After opening its new wing, the building of Árkád is set to be modernized by later this year, ECE said in a statement. As part of the reconstruction, the shops of Interspar, Rossmann, Reno and Butlers will be enlarged, and further new brands will be introduced, such as Adidas, Starbucks and Budapest Bank.
Árkád and Árkád 2 are located on Örs vezér tér in Budapest’s district 14, next to the terminal of Subway 2 and multiple suburban railway lines.
