Hungarian-owned dairy Alföldi Tej on Tuesday inaugurated a HUF 250 million ultra-high-temperature (UHT) milk processing line at its base in Székesfehérvár (SW Hungary).
Alföldi Tej expects the new line to reduce costs and boost the competitiveness of its products against imports.
Alföldi Tej turned a small profit on revenue of HUF 30 billion in 2010. The dairy employs 510 people.
Alföldi Tej has spent HUF 4 billion on developments at the dairy since acquiring it from troubled Parmalat in 2005, said managing director Tibor Mélykúti.
State secretary at the Rural Development Ministry Endre Kardeván participated at the inauguration on Tuesday.
