Aldi announces market entry for next year

German food retailer Aldi GmbH will open the company’s first stores in Hungary next year and plans to build a 400 store network, writes news portal Index.hu.

Aldi will set up regional centers in eight towns and open the first Aldi discount stores probably next spring, the company disclosed at the job expo at Corvinus University. According to daily Napi Gazdaság, 20-25 units will be opened in the first stage, at locations already selected, with construction work to start soon. The first stores will open in Budapest, Győr, Veszprém, Zalaegerszeg, Pécs, Szeged, Debrecen and Miskolc, says Aldi1s leaflet at the expo. The 70,000 sq.m. logistics center near Budapest, being developed by construction company Strabag Zrt, will be completed shortly. (Napi Gazdaság)
