Ahlers buys Baldessarini for € 9 mln

Ahlers AG, Germany's second-largest menswear maker, said it signed an agreement to buy Baldessarini GmbH & Co. KG, excluding the rights to its perfume business, for as much as € 9 million ($11.5 million). Ahlers also acquired the rights to the Baldessarini brand, Herford, Germany-based Ahlers said in an e-mailed statement. Baldessarini will add to Ahlers' men's fashion line. The company in May said it agreed to sell its stake in Eterna Mode AG for € 120 million to help pursue possible acquisitions of international menswear brands. Ahlers, which sells clothes under brands including Gin Tonic, Sisignora and Otto Kern, in July posted a H1 profit increase of 4.9% as the company sold more clothes in eastern Europe. (Bloomberg)
