42% of software in Hungarian PCs illegal

Illegal software accounted for 42% of all software in personal computers in Hungary in 2005, 2 percentage points less than a year earlier, according to a survey by the Business Software Alliance (BSA) published on Tuesday.

The improvement followed a 2 percentage point deterioration in the previous year. According to BSA, the use of illegal software caused the software industry damages of Ft 22.2 billion in 2005. In Western Europe, illegal software accounts for about 35% of all software in personal computers.
