The number of international conferences held in Hungary declined 52.7% yr/yr to 168 in the first three quarters of 2009, conference bureau Magyar Kongresszusi Iroda reported on the organization's website.
More than 38,000 people participated in the 168 international conferences held in Hungary during the first nine months of 2009, an average of 227.6 people per conference.
The average duration of the conferences was 3.5 days.
A total of 78.6% of the conferences were held in Budapest.
Of the 168 international conferences held in Hungary during the first three quarters of 2009, 73.8% took place in hotels, 11.9% at conference centers, 8.3% at universities or other academic institutions and the rest at other venues.
The most foreign guests at international conferences held in Hungary during the period came from Germany, followed by Great Britain, the United States and France. (MTI – Econews)
