Youth uneployment plagues Hungary

3.89 million Hungarians were employed between November and January, while the number of registered jobless was 275,000, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported. In the 15?74 age group, 53.9% had jobs. The ranks of the unemployed swelled by 32,000 compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, a 6.6% increase year-on-year. In contrast, 8.9% of the adult population were seeking a job in the EU-25 in December. In Hungary, 18% of young people aged 15?24 were unemployed, which accounts for 23.2% of the total unemployment count. 45.1% of those without a job have been trying to find one for a year or more.
