Wizz Air gets Euro 25 mln fresh capital

As announced earlier, discount airline Wizz Air received a capital injection of Euro 25 million from a consortium led by Indigo Partners, a U.S.-based private equity firm specializing in transportation investments, with the participation of industry suppliers such as debis AirFinance and Lufthansa Technik. A little over 8 months since its first flight took off, Wizz Air has transported approximately 700,000 passengers. The airline expects to sell its one millionth ticket in February. The company will launch new routes in the summer season including flights from Budapest to Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Frankfurt, Katowice and Athens; with 10 new destinations offered from Polish airports.
