The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has allocated USD 4 million to Hungary from the Coalition Solidarity Fund, appropriated by the U.S. Congress, the Embassy of the United States announced on friday. The Fund has been established at the request of President George Bush, to support key allies in the global war on terrorism. As George Herbert Walker, US ambassador explained, the United States appreciates the contributions the Hungarian government has made in Iraq, Afghanistan, and in other global operations. The United States also recognizes that Hungary was an early contributor to Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq. The Embassy and the Hungarian Ministry of Defense is still to determine how best these funds can be used.
