PM?s of the regional cooperation ?Visegrád Four? are having a meeting today in Budapest, daily Magyar Hírlap reported. PM Ferenc Gyurcsány hosts his Slovak, Czech and Polish opposites as well as Austrian chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel and Slovenian PM Janez Jansa. They are to discuss the EU budget for the period between 2007-2013 and will probably urge a 7-year budget to be set up. The leaders are also due to have detailed discussions of the ?Budapest Compromise?. At the moment the Polish government, though aware of the dangers of a delayed budget, think counterarguments outnumber the possible advantages of a temporary 3-year budget suggested by the Hungarian premier. Nor does the Polish government support the idea of extending the V4 cooperation to involve Austria and Slovenia. The Visegrád 4, Austria and Slovenia should act as a multilateral platform of discussions since V4 group members have a lot more in common, they have faced similar economic and social challenges, said Jan Truszczynski Undersecretary of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an interview with the paper.
