Transport tariffs on the rise again
Friday, October 7, 2005, 02:02
From 15th October inland railway passenger prices are to rise by 6% on the average, Napi Gazdaság reports. Last year Hungarian State Railway, MÁV, Rt proposed an increase in prices by 8.5% for 2005 which the government reduced to 4.5% from the beginning of the year. There was a 4.5% markup at the beginning of 2005 and coach prices are subject to another 5% increase this time. Volán Rt companies have been eager to raise prices for a while since the price increases they had proposed fell through, and their situation was also worsened by the interim rise in fuel prices.
