Several tons of imported peppers from Morocco were found to contain a high level of toxic pesticide by the State Public Health and Surgeon General?s Office (ÁNTSz), news portal Index reported quoting wire service MTI. ÁNTSz seized part of the consignment, but the rest had already been sold to retailers. The toxicity level of the pesticide is several times higher than the allowed limit, however the paprika is unlikely to cause acute symptoms of poisoning, according to Lajos Ócsai, a department head with ÁNTSz said.
