Tourist season much better than last summer

Hotels in Hungary reported considerably more guests between January and May than a year earlier, and the number of guest nights also rose slightly year-on-year, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported. During this time, 1.1 million foreign visitors entered the country and spent 3.3 million nights at hotels; this is up 13% and 7% respectively on the first five months of 2004, respectively. Hotels also posted considerably higher revenues than last year. Q1 saw foreigners spend Ft 207 billion in Hungary, while Hungarians spent Ft 133 billion abroad, an increase of 4% and 10%, respectively.
